Smash‘s Raza Jaffrey to Join West End Chicago

Raza Jaffrey will assume the role of Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago, playing at the Garrick Theatre. He will join the show for a limited season, running May 16-July 14.


Jaffrey’s stage credits include Mamma Mia! and Bombay Dreams in London. In addition, he plays Dev Sundaram on NBC’s Smash.


As previously reported, David Bedella is currently playing the role through May 12, and Robin Cousins will join the company as Billy on July 17. The production also currently features Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowall as Velma Kelly, James Doherty as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Mama Morton and R. Whitehead as Mary Sunshine.

The musical is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins. It features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb. The production is directed by Walter Bobbie, and choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse.
