Almeida Theatre Announces Details for The Dark Earth and the Light Sky and Almeida Festival 2012

Almeida Theatre has announced details for its Almeida Festival 2012 and upcoming production of Nick Dear’s The Dark Earth and the Light Sky.

Richard Eyre will return to the Almeida to direct Dear’s new play, about the friendship between poets Edward Thomas and Robert Frost, which will run November 8 through January 12. Casting for the production will be announced at a later date. The creative team will include Bob Crowley (scenic and costume design), Peter Mumford (lighting design), and John Leonard (sound design).

Prior to this, the Almeida will welcome seven international productions, from July 2-28, as part of their annual festival. Those productions include Inua Ellams’ Knight Watch (July 2-3), Inspector Sands’ Mass-Observation (July 5-8, 13-14), The Team’s Roosevelvis (July 9-12), Custom/Practice’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (July 16-21), Lost Dog’s It Needs Horses/Home for Broken Turns (July 23-26, 28), and Greyscale’s Gods Are Fallen and All Safety Gone (July 18-19). Additionally, the Young Friends of the Almeida will return to present Parallax (July 25, 27, 28), and, with Custom/Practice, The Mini Dream on July 21.
