Rumblings about a potential West End run currently surround Berry Gordy's Broadway hit Motown The Musical. Speculation about a London production began after it was reported that the Queen jukebox musical We Will Rock You will end its 12-year run at the West End's Dominion Theatre in May. London theater correspondent Baz Bamigboye then tweeted the unofficial news that Motown will take up residency in the vacant theater either in late 2014 or early 2015.

Representatives of the Broadway production commented on the rumors in the following statement: "The Broadway producers of Motown The Musical are thrilled that there is so much interest in the show going to London's West End. There is an exploration of setting up a London company, but it is too early to confirm a theatre or when the show will open. Currently, the Motown team is focused on the US national tour which starts performances at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago on April 22nd."
