Peter and Alice, the new play by John Logan (Red), is based on the real-life meeting of two of literature's favorite fictional characters. It's 1932 and an 80-year-old Alice Liddell (the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll's Alice and Wonderland) meets a mid-30s Peter Llewelyn Davies (one of the boys on whom J.M. Barrie based Peter Pan) at the opening of a Lewis Carroll exhibition. Peter and Alice examines that meeting and the magical lives of these two real people.

Tony Award winner Dame Judi Dench (Amy's View) will star as Alice Liddell Hargreaves opposite Drama League Award nominee Ben Whishaw (The Pride) in the role of Peter Llewellyn Davies. The production, directed by Michael Grandage (Evita), opens March 25 at London's Noël Coward Theatre.

The play's cast will also include Olly Alexander, Ruby Bentall, Stefano Braschi, Nicholas Farrell, and Derek Riddell.

John Logan, whose play Red won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play, will soon have his work featured on Broadway a second time when I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers, a solo show starring Bette Midler, opens at the Booth Theatre this April.
