Well, they may not be marrying each other, but this is definitely the next best thing. Sir Ian McKellen will be officiating at the upcoming wedding of Sir Patrick Stewart and his fiancée, 35-year-old jazz singer Sunny Ozell.
McKellen spilled the beans during his appearance this past weekend on the U.K. program The Jonathan Ross Show, announcing, "I'm going to marry Patrick." He eventually clarified his statement, saying, "How else do you put that? I'm going to officiate at his wedding," likely leaving the audience incredibly disappointed.
McKellen is apparently an experienced marriage officiator. He presided over a civil partnership ceremony between two men in the U.K. once before, during which he claims to have worn a "rather fetching" white gown that he purchased in India.
Hopefully there will be footage of the upcoming nuptials, but if not, there will soon be plenty of opportunities to see this dynamic duo in action. The newest installment in the X-Men series, X-Men: Days of Future Past, will hit theaters July 18, 2014, and how can we forget Stewart and McKellen's fall 2013 return to Broadway in Waiting for Godot and No Man's Land? Stewart may be tying the knot to someone else, but he'll never forget who did the tying.
Don't show this again.
