Rolan Bell, Rosalie Craig, Claudia Kariuki, John Marquez Set for Open Air Theatre’s Ragtime

Casting has been announced for Ragtime, to run May 18 – September 8 at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park. As previously reported, Timothy Sheader will direct the production, which will have choreography by Javier de Frutos and musical direction by Nigel Lilley.

Ragtime, based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel of the same name, features music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally. The show centers on the converging stories of an affluent white family and an African-American couple at the beginning of the 20th century.

The company will feature Stephane Anelli (Harry Houdini), Rolan Bell (Coalhouse), David Birrell (Father), Katie Brayben (Evelyn Nesbit), Tamsin Carroll (Emma Goldman), Rosalie Craig (Mother), Harry Hepple (Younger Brother), Claudia Kariuki (Sarah), Joshua Lacey (Willie Conklin), John Marquez (Tateh), Carl Sanderson (Ford), and Jo Servi (Grandfather), along with Fin Banks, Rory Fraser and Ewan Harris, who will alternate as Little Boy, and Lily Burgering and Lila Heller, who will alternate as Little Girl.

The ensemble will includes Jamal Andreas, Louise Bowden, Anthony Clegg, Hayley Gallivan, Shimi Goodman, Waylon Jacobs, Kurt Kansley, Mireia Mambo Bekele, Sandra Marvin, Sophia Nomvete, Corinna Powlesland, Caroline Rovina, Lucy St Louis, and Tom Woods.

The creative team will include Jon Bausor (scenic design), Laura Hopkins (costume design), and James Farncombe (lighting design), as well as Nick Lidster and Ian Dickinson for Autograph, who will provide sound design.
