Jack Lowden to Star in Chariots of Fire in London

Jack Lowden will star as Eric Liddell in Mike Bartlett’s stage adaptation of Chariots of Fire, to run May 9 – June 16 at the Hampstead Theatre, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. As previously reported, Edward Hall will direct the production, which will have choreography by Scott Ambler and use the original music from the movie by Vangelis.


Lowden’s stage credits include Black Watch and Peter Pan. He has also appeared as Nick Fairclough on television’s Being Victor.

Chariots of Fire focuses on athletes Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, who overcame prejudice and personal strife to compete in the 1924 Paris Olympics. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.


The creative team will include Miriam Buether (scenic design), Michael Howells (costume design), Rick Fisher (lighting design), Paul Groothuis (sound design), along with Jason Carr, who will provide additional music.
