Douglas Hodge, Maria Friedman, Ian Talbot to Direct for Menier Chocolate Factory Season

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced the directors and productions for its new season of main house shows that runs from May 2012 to February 2013.

Tony and Olivier-winning actor Douglas Hodge will direct Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy (May 30-August 12). In it, drag queen Arnold encounters passion, thrills, love and loss.

Ian Talbot will helm Brandon Thomas’ Charley’s Aunt (September 20-November 10), wherein Charley concocts an elaborate, cross-dressing scheme so that he and cohort Jack can be seen to have a proper chaperone in the presence of their true loves.

Olivier award-winning actress Maria Friedman will make her directorial debut with Stephen Sondheim/George Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along (November 16- February 23). The musical charts the relationship of three friends over three decades in the entertainment business.
