In addition to announcing the character's retirement from the stage, Humphries has announced that he hopes that Eat Pray Laugh, will play engagements in both the U.K. and in New York. The show is scheduled to also include the final appearance of another of Humphries' famed characters, drunken Australian cultural attache Sir Les Patterson.

Dame Edna has been central to such theater works as Housewife, Superstar, A Night with Dame Edna and several Royal Variety Performances as well as the Tony Award-winning Dame Edna: The Royal Tour and the Tony-nominated Dame Edna, Back with a Vengeance.
