Alex Bourne, Adam Garcia, Hannah Waddingham Set for Kiss Me, Kate, Directed by Trevor Nunn

Preliminary casting has been announced for Kiss Me, Kate, to run June 18 – September 1 at the Chichester Festival Theatre, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Trevor Nunn will direct the production, which will have choreography by Stephen Mear.

With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, and a book by Sam and Bella Spewack, the show centers on the backstage drama that takes place as a production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew performs its pre-Broadway tryout.

The cast will feature Hannah Waddingham as Lilli/Kate, Alex Bourne as Fred Graham/Petruchio, Adam Garcia as Bill Calhoun/Lucentio, David Burt as Gangster 1, and Clive Rowe as Gangster 2. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.

The creative team will include production designer Robert Jones, lighting designer Tim Mitchell, and sound designer Paul Groothuis. Chris Egan will provide orchestrations and Gareth Valentine, who will create dance arrangements, will serve as musical supervisor and musical director.
