The Theatre Royal Stratford East will launch their 2011 spring and summer season with the London debut of the Q Brothers’ Funk It Up About Nothin’, a hip-hop Shakespeare musical based on the Much Ado About Nothing, to begin performances on April 8.

The show originated at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and has played Joe’s Pub in New York and the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe. It comes to Stratford East from a six-week tour of Australia.

In addition to co-creators GQ and JQ, the cast will include Jillian Burfete, Jackson Doran, Postell Pringle, Ericka Ratcliff, and Adrienne Sanchez.
