Jodie Prenger to Star in UK Tour of Monty Python’s Spamalot

Jodie Prenger will play the Lady of the Lake in the new U.K. tour of Monty Python’s Spamalot, which will launch from the New Wimbledon Theatre, where it will run May 29-June 5. In addition, Eric Idle will provide the recorded voice of God. No other casting has been announced.

Based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in their quest to find the religious relic — and features a chorus line of dancing divas (with serfs), flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and a legless knight.

The musical has a book and lyrics by original Python Eric Idle, who also co-wrote the music with John Du Prez. Both the Broadway and West End productions featured direction by Mike Nichols and scenic and costume design by Tim Hatley.

Prenger recently appeared in the London production of Oliver, for which she won a Whatsonstage.com Award.
