Peter Brook, Michael Clark, Ivo van Hove Will Be Part of Barbican Season

The Barbican Theatre has announced its offerings for its 2009-2010 season, according to www.Whatsonstage.com.

The theater’s upcoming productions include a new Michael Clark international co-commission based on the music of 1970s rock music of David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Lou Reed; Roman Tragedies, a six-hour spectacle based on Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, Julius Caesarand Antony and Cleopatra, from the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, directed by Ivo van Hove; and Peter Brook’s new work 11 and 12, co-produced with the Bouffes du Nord in Paris and the Grotowski Institute in Poland, based on his own play Tierno Bokar about the life and teachings of the real-life Sufi sage.

Other offerings will include TR Warszawa’s production of Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis; Teatr ZAR’s triptych Gospels of Childhood, Caesarean Section and Anhelli; the Yorkshire-based theatre company Slung Low in They Only Come at Night: Visions, which will combine dance, music and digital projection on vampire and gothic themes; and the hip-hop musical Pied Piper.
