Stephen Ward, the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical about the 1963 Profumo Affair, will end its West End run on March 29. The show premiered at the Aldwych Theatre on December 19, after beginning previews December 3.

Directed by Richard Eyre, Stephen Ward features a Lloyd Webber score and reunites the composer with his Sunset Boulevard collaborators Don Black (lyrics) and Christopher Hampton (book). The production stars Broadway vet Alexander Hanson (A Little Night Music) in the title role, along with Charlotte Spencer, Charlotte Blackledge, Anthony Calf, Daniel Flynn, Joanna Riding, Ian Conningham, Chris Howell, Ricardo Coke Thomas, and Wayne Robinson in principal roles.

The musical tells the story of its title character, an osteopath who introduced politician John Profumo to Christine Keeler, the woman with whom he would begin a torrid affair. Lloyd Webber and Black's score was preserved on a cast recording.
