Eve Best, Janie Dee, Charles Edwards, et al. Set for Shakespeare’s Globe 2011 Season

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced preliminary casting for its 2011 season. Entitlled “The Word Is God”, the season will launch with a cover-to-cover unstaged reading of The Bible around the Easter weekend.

Joshua McGuire will star in Hamlet (beginning April 23); Janie Dee will star in Jonathan Dove’s production of All’s Well That Ends Well (April 27-August 21); Eve Best and Charles Edwards will headline Jeremy Herrin’s production of Much Ado About Nothing (May 21-October 1); and Paul Hilton will take on the title role of Matthew Dunster’s production of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus (June 28-October 2).

The season will also include Howard Brenton’s Anne Boleyn (July 8-August 21); a new version of The Globe Mysteries by Tony Harrison and directed by Deborah Bruce (August 5-October 1); and Raz Shannon’s production of Chris Hannan’s new play The God of Soho (August 27-September 30).

In addition, The Globe will tour its productions of As You Like It and Hamlet.
