Dirty Dancing to Play Final West End Performance July 9; U.K. Tour to Begin in September

Dirty Dancing will play its final performance at the West End’s Aldwych Theatre on July 9, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. The production will then embark on a U.K. tour, which will launch with an engagement at the Bristol Hippodrome, to begin September 1.

The musical, based on the film of the same name, opened at the Aldwych on October 24, 2006, and has been adapted for the stage by the film’s screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein, who based the story’s setting on her own childhood experiences of family holidays in America’s Catskill Mountains. The show had its world premiere in Sydney in 2004 and has since toured Australia, Germany, the UK, and the U.S.
