The Reggae musical The Harder They Come will embark on a tour of the U.K. this summer, according to a report on the website for the U.K. magazine The Stage. The tour will launch from the Nottingham Playhouse, starting May 14. Kerry Michael will direct the tour, which will feature production design by ULTZ, choreography by Jackie Guy and musical direction by Geraldine Connor.

The show is written by Perry Henzell and is based on the 1972 movie of the same title. It focuses on a young man who leaves home in the Jamaican countryside and travels to Kingston, with dreams of becoming a famous musician. Originally seen at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2006, the musical, which has also played in the West End, features songs from the film’s soundtrack, including: “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “Many Rivers To Cross,” “By The Rivers of Babylon,” and “The Harder They Come.”

Other stops on the tour include the Birmingham Hippodrome, West Yorkshire Playhouse, the Northampton Derngate, the New Wimbledon Theatre, The Lowry, Oxford Playhouse, and the Cardiff New Theatre.
