Danny DeVito and Richard Griffiths will star in Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys, to run April 27 – July 28 at the West End’s Savoy Theatre. Thea Sharrock will direct the production.

The play centers on the aging vaudevillian team of Willie Clark (DeVito) and Al Lewis (Griffiths), who haven’t spoken in years, and what happens when they receive a call that they’re to re-unite for a TV special. Additional casting will be announced in the near future.

DeVito is perhaps best known for his Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning work on Taxi. Among his film credits are Terms of Endearment, The Jewel of the Nile, Ruthless People, Batman Returns, and The War of the Roses, as well as Martini in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a role he also played on stage.

Griffiths won Olivier and Tony Awards for his work in The History Boys. Among his other stage credits are Equus and Heroes, both directed by Sharrock, as well as The Habit of Art, Rules of the Game and Galileo, among others. His film and television credits include the film version of The History Boys, the Harry Potter movies, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Hugo, Sleepy Hollow, Withnail and I, and pie in the Sky.

The creative team will include production designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Neil Austin and sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph.
