Onyx Theatre will present David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries for the second year in a row, December 1-11. Jamie Morris will reprise the role of Crumpet the Elf. Christopher Kenney will direct.

Adapted for the stage by Joe Mantello, The Santaland Diaries is Sedaris’ send-up of his brief career as a Macy’s elf. The show skewers the sentimental love of all things Christmas as Sedaris’ character Crumpet the Elf shows us the other side of what it’s like to work at Santaland. The result is bawdy and irreverent.

Sedaris first read The Santaland Diaries essay on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition in December 1992, and the piece provided him his first major break. Sedaris is known for his prickly, funny essays about his childhood in North Carolina and his adult life as a just-slightly-neurotic gay expatriate in Paris.
