Ricky Martin to Honor Placido Domingo at Latin Grammy Awards

Ricky Martin, who has been announced to play Che Guevara in the upcoming Broadway revival of Evita in 2012, will appear in a special presentation for Placido Domingo at the 11th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, to be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on November 11 in Las Vegas. As previously announced, Domingo is being recognized as the Latin Grammys Person of the Year for his professional and philanthropic achievements.

As previously reported, Latin music star and Broadway veteran Marc Anthony will be among the performers at the ceremony. Additional performers will include Banda El Recodo, Camila, Chino y Nacho, ChocQuibTown, Aida Cuevas, Alejandro Fernandez, Pedro Fernandez, Juan Luis Guerra, Enrique Iglesias, Mariachi Sol De Mexico, Grupo Pesado, Jenni Rivera, Rosario, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Senor Tango de Buenos Aires, Aleks Syntek, Johnny Ventura, and Wisin y Yandel, as well as special performances by Prince Royce with Ben E. King and Nelly Furtado with Mala Rodriguez. Las Vegas shows Le Reve and Jabbawockeez also will be featured during the telecast.

Presenters will include Charo, who will be appearing in the Philadelphia engagement of the musical Girl Talk later this month, along with Pepe Aguilar, Kuno Becker, Camilla Belle, Vico C, Jaime Camil, Itati Cantoral, Santiago Cruz, Alex Cuba, Cristian de la Fuente, Jorge Drexler, Maria Gadu, Kany Garcia, Claudia Leitte, Ximena Navarrete, Gaby Spanic, Lourdes Stephen, Tito “El Bambino,” Tommy Torres, Alexa Vega, and Juan Fernando Velasco.

Actor/comedian Eugenio Derbez and actress/singer Lucero will co-host the ceremony.
