WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

For their 79th Season, Berkshire Theatre Festival presents a sophisticated and provocative slate of plays, including masterworks by Terrence McNally, George Bernard Shaw, and Tennessee Williams. Other highlights include director Vivian Matalon revisiting Morning's at Seven, a play for which he won a Tony Award in 1980. Emmy Award-winning playwright Rick Cleveland performs a workshop production of his new political comedy, My Pal George. Actors Randy Harrison, Jonathan Epstein, and David Atkins are among the BTF regulars who are returning to Stockbridge this year. The Main Stage Love! Valour! Compassion! (June 22 - July 7) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (July 13 - 28) Morning's at Seven (August 3 - 11) Mrs. Warren's Profession (August 17 - September 1) The Unicorn Theatre The Glass Menagerie (May 25 - June 30) My Pal George (July 5 - 21) Two-Headed (July 26 - August 18) Educating Rita (August 22 - October 20) Family Programming Cinderella (June 27 - July 28) AESOP's Network: Broadcasting Theatrical Fables (August 1 - 18) Alice in Wonderland (September 7 & 8) A Christmas Carol (December 8 - 23) Founded in 1928, Berkshire Theatre Festival is one of the oldest professional regional theatres in the United States and the longest-running cultural organization in the Berkshires. Now under the helm of Artistic Director Kate Maguire and Administrative Producer M. Edgar Rosenblum, BTF presents theatre that matters--world premieres, contemporary works, and classics that speak to who we are in our world today. The Main Stage (414 seats), cataloged by the National Register of Historic Places, was originally designed and built by Stanford White as the Stockbridge Casino in 1888. The mission of BTF's second stage, the intimate Unicorn Theatre (99 seats), is to provide a home for emerging artists and new theatrical ideas. BTF's education program, BTF PLAYS!, reaches over 9,500 children annually through school residencies, touring performances, and summer performance training and writing programs. During the summer months BTF opens its doors to over 100 administrative, acting, and technical interns and apprentices.
