WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Acknowledging the loss 20 years ago of one of America's greatest classical musicians, the legendary composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein, Ravinia presents a 50-minute suite of vocal excerpts from one of his greatest hits, Candide, while giving the incomparable CSO a chance to "glitter and be gay" in this beloved score. The program also offers the rare experience of Christoph Eschenbach performing piano on the pavilion stage when he plays Mozart's Piano Concerto K.488.
