Bard Summerscape opens with the world premiere of Romeo & Juliet, on Motifs of Shakespeare, a fully restored version of Sergey Prokofiev's original ballet Romeo & Juliet (1935), commissioned by Bard and choreographed by Mark Morris, to be performed by the Mark Morris Dance Group with the American Symphony Orchestra, with music director Leon Botstein conducting.
