The Santaland Diaries begins performances tonight at Alley Theatre.

NPR humorist David Sedaris and Joe Mantello created this outlandish, and true, chronicle of David Sedaris’ experience as a worker in Macy’s SantaLand display. This compact cult classic features comic encounters during the height of the holiday crunch. David Cromer directs.

Alley resident company member Todd Waite returns for his eighth year starring as Crumpet the Elf.

The creative team includes Karin Rabe Vance (scenic design), Blaire Gulledge (costume design), Kevin Rigdon (lighting design), Pierre Dupree (sound design), and Kristen Larson (stage management).

This production is recommended for mature audiences.

Performances run through December 31.
