WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
TheaterWorks opens its 2003-2004 season with the fascinating tale of the Collyer brothers, perhaps the quirkiest figures of early twentieth century New York society. The Dazzle, by Richard Greenberg, offers an intriguing look into a land of magical obsession. Langley Collyer, a budding concert pianist, is captivated by the "dazzle" of virtually everything in the world around him . . . from a fallen leaf to a lock of hair to a musical phrase. But his concert career is heading for disaster, since he cherishes each musical note so dearly that it takes him three-quarters of an hour to play "The Minute Waltz". His fiercely devoted older brother, Homer, maintains the household and schemes to pair Langley with the beautiful young heiress, Milly Ashmore, who yearns to be included in the brothers' world. But the plan founders at the altar, quickening the brothers' slide into a wildly crowded landscape, increasingly populated by fantasies.
Additional Performances: Sundays, November 30, and December 7, 14 and 21 at 7:30 p.m.
