Judith Blazer will play Vera Charles opposite the previously reported Louis Pitre in the title role of the musical Mame, to run April 20 – July 1 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT. Ray Roderick will direct the production, which will have choreography by Vince Pesce.

Blazer’s Broadway credits include Lovemusik, 45 Seconds From Broadway, Titanic, A Change in the Heir, and Me and My Girl. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in Hello Again.

Pitre received a Tony Award nomination for her portrayal of Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!, a role which she originated in Toronto and also played on tour. Among her other credits are Les Miserables, in both her native Canada and Paris, Edith Piaf, Annie Get Your Gun, Song & Dance, The Toxic Avenger, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd.

With music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, and a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, the musical traces the relationship – over several decades – between Patrick Dennis and his flamboyant aunt – Mame. Additional casting and creative will be announced in the near future.
