WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Directed by Julie Kramer. Starring Tovah Feldshuh. In 1911, the Mona Lisa is stolen from the Louvre museum. During her captivity in a squalid apartment, the painting comes to life and offers her perspective on humanity, the men in her life, and her fellow paintings. Meanwhile, the French police seal the national borders and interrogate everyone from Pablo Picasso to J.P. Morgan but can't manage to find her. Mona Lisa ultimately realizes she must plot her own escape. Along the way, she also settles the longstanding mystery of who she really is — and why she's smiling. Inspired by real events.
