John Scherer to Star in Westchester Broadway Theatre’s George M.

Westchester Broadway Theatre is set to present George M., June 7-July 1. Richard Stafford will direct and choreograph. Musical direction will be by Leo Carusone.

With a book by Michael Stewart, John Pascal, and Francine Pascal, lyrics and musical revisions by Mary Cohan, and music and lyrics by George M. Cohan, George M. tells the life story of George M. Cohan, a giant of the American Musical Theater who gave us such songs as Yankee Doodle Dandy, You’re A Grand Old Flag, and Give My Regards to Broadway.

The cast will feature John Scherer (George M. Cohan), Jim Walton (Jerry), Melodie Wilford (Nellie), Amanda Trusty (Josie), Laura Schutter (Ethel), Jeanette Minson (Agnes), Katharine Heaton (Fay Templeton), Gary Lynch (Sam Harris), and Carol Schuberg (Ma Templeton/Grimaldi). The ensemble will include Erin Burniston, Rob Gibbs, Glenn Giron, Drew King, Colin Pritchard, Jonathan Stahl, and Karen Webb.

The design team will be comprised of John Farrell (set design), Andrew Gmoser (lighting design), Jonathan Hatton (sound design), and Leon Dobkowski (costume design). Props will be by Grumpy’s Props.
