John Bolton, Maureen McGovern, Jim Poulos, et al. Set for Geva Theatre’s 2010-2011 Season

The Geva Theatre Center has announced its 2010-2011 season, which will include Maureen McGovern and Philip Himberg’s Carry It On: A Personal Journey through the Songs of a Generation, October 12-November 14. McGovern will will also star in this autobiographical show, which will play in October and November and will explore the singer’s life and the music and musicians that inspired her, including Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King, among others.

The theater’s mainstage season will also include Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus (September – October), directed by Paul Mason Barnes and featuring Jim Poulous as Mozart and a new musical version of A Christmas Carol (November – December), adapted and directed by Mark Cuddy and featuring an original score by Gregg Coffin.

In the new year, the theater’s mainstage offerings will include I’ll Be Geneseeing You, Second City Does Rochester (January – February); Tom Dudzick’s Over the Tavern (February – March), directed by Skip Greer; August Wilson’s Radio Golf (March – April), directed by Timothy Bond; and Meredith Willson’s The Music Man ( May – June), which will also be directed by Cuddy and feature John Bolton as Professor Harold Hill.

In addition to these mainstage productions, the theater will offer its Pre-Season Summer Spectacular, which will include Girls Night – The Musical (July 6 – August 1) and a one-night only performance by the group Young @ Heart (July 8).
