A Country Girl opening night - 10:41PM on 4/27/2008

I saw the play with my husband tonight and was surprised by all the by all the negative reviews I have been seeing. I enjoyed it and felt invested in if things would work out for the main characters. I did think you had to fill in some of the back story that led the characters to where they were when the play opens but thats part of the fun. I think people and the critics in particular are being unduly hard in this respect. I guess I dont need to be spoon fed to enjoy.

I suppose I have the advantage of discovery of a story for the first time as told through this production. I thought the way the principals revealed themselves slowly and patiently was well done; not "disconnected" or "disinterested" as has been suggested. If you go and watch without comparisons to everything under the sun: you will most certainly enjoy.
