When most people think of Arthur Schwartz today, they think of The Band Wagon, the great musical film that MGM crafted around his songs and which featured Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse in one of the most sublime dance sequences in film history: "Dancing in the Dark."

However, Arthur Schwartz was writing show tunes for Broadway before films even learned to talk! In a career spanning almost 40 years, he wrote songs for Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, Fred and Adele Astaire, Ethel Waters, Beatrice Lillie and Barbara Cook...songs like "You and the Night and the Music," "Alone Together," "I Guess I'll Have to Change My Plan" and "By Myself." When you hear the music of Arthur Schwartz, you'll agree: "That's Entertainment!"
