Alston's choreography is distinguished by his obsession for lyricism, beauty and balance in the structure of his work. This is dance that serves no other agenda than Alston's desire to present something of great beauty to his audiences. Launched in 1994 to great critical acclaim, his company has grown into Britain's largest contemporary dance organization and its most avidly followed independent ensemble. Alston himself is one of the icons of British modern dance. His position as artistic director of the professional dance training program at London's The Place lends a strong curricular opportunity to all engagements of the company.
