WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
By 1960, New York theatre-goers were already buzzing about the brilliant young composer who was writing novelty songs for young revue artists down in the Village like Tammy Grimes and Joel Grey. Then New York's best-kept secret went public when Charlie Strouse's first Broadway musical (Bye Bye Birdie) became a smash hit! He scored again with Annie, the musical which soon had every 10 year old moppet in American belting out "Tomorrow!" Along the way, he continued to write wonderful scores for performers like Ray Bolger (ALL AMERICAN), Lauren Bacall (APPLAUSE) and Sammy Davis, Jr. (GOLDEN BOY). He even wrote a song for Sammy's friends (Archie and Edith Bunker) to sing in All In the Family. Remember "Those Were the Days?" That was Charlie's! You see, you're smiling already!
