BalletBoyz is the brainchild of Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt, who founded the company in 2001. Michael and Billy met at the Royal Ballet Upper School and joined the Royal Ballet together in 1987. During their 12 years at The Royal Ballet between them, they danced all the principal roles. In 2000 they cofounded BalletBoyz. They danced all over the world for 10 years and won numerous awards and accolades working with leading dancers, choreographers and designers. The year 2010 saw their retirement from the stage and the first edition of the groundbreaking project the TALENT. Michael and Billy selected eight young male dancers from a variety of backgrounds and worked with them closely, mentoring and coaching to create a company of first-class performers. Now in its fifth year, the Company has expanded to ten dancers and regularly tours the UK and internationally. In 2013, BalletBoyz won the National Dance Award for Best Independent Company.
Dorrance Dance aims to honor tap dance's unique history in a new context by upholding the traditional form while pushing its rhythmic, technical, and conceptual boundaries. The company is passionately committed to expanding the audience of tap dance, America's long-standing indigenous jazz vernacular. By incorporating other forms that have shaped the foundation of American culture — such as street, club, and experimental dance — Dorrance Dance highlights the traditional elements of tap dance and its musical rhythms in a contemporary light.
Founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo have established themselves as a major dance phenomenon throughout the world. The original concept of the Trocks has not changed. It is a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles.
Founded in 1985 by artistic director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, Parsons Dance is known for its energized, athletic, ensemble work, and has collaborated with many iconic artists of our time. The company has spread the joy of dance in over 447 cities, 30 countries, and five continents for the most notable theaters and festivals worldwide.
Created by Pilobolus's dancers and directors in collaboration with the lead writer for the popular animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, Steven Banks, Shadowland is a universal and intimately portrayed experience that is both intensely dramatic and comedic. The story is a surreal experience of a young girl's sensational world as she comes of age. As the first theatrical event of its kind to tour the globe, Shadowland incorporates multiple moving screens of different sizes and shapes to create an evening-length performance that merges projected images and front-of-screen choreography. Set to a rhythmic original score by David Poe, the popular American musician, producer, and film composer, the poetic work for Shadowland ranges from ballads to hard-driving rock numbers that lift the audience out of its seats. The songs illuminate the themes and visuals of this fascinating story and world.
