Paul McCartney Wins Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize
The Library of Congress has named Paul McCartney as the third recipient of its Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, according to The New York Times. The Library said that an all-star tribute concert is planned for the spring of 2010; it is unclear whether McCartney will perform at the event.
McCartney was one fourth of The Beatles and wrote most of its songs with John Lennon. For the past 40 years, he has continued to write and perform, and recently released a CD/DVD called Good Evening New York City.
Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder were the first two winners of the Gershwin Prize.
