Tonya Pinkins and Erika Rolfsrud to Star in Black Pearl Sings! at Ford’s Theatre

Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins and Erika Rolfsrud will star in Frank Higgins’ Black Pearl Sings!, to run September 25-October 18 at Ford’s Theatre. Jennifer L. Nelson will direct the production.

Higgins’ play focuses on Susannah, a song collector for the Library of Congress who finds an unexpected resource in Pearl, an inmate in a Texas prison.

The creative team includes scenic designer Tony Cisek, costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designer Dan Covey, and sound designer Veronika Vorel. William Hubbard will serve as musical director.
