Michelle Obama to Serve as Honorary Chair of Imagination Stage Gala

First Lady Michelle Obama will be the Honorary Chair of Imagination Stage’s upcoming Gala, titled “Once Upon a Time…Into the Future.” The Bethesda, Maryland-based company will hold the event on October 24, beginning at 6:30pm.

In a statement, the company’s founder and executive director Bonnie Fogel says, “we are grateful for the support of Mrs. Obama during this, our 30th anniversary year. She and the President are vocal proponents of the importance of arts education in nurturing the creative thinkers the United States will need to lead in the future.”

The evening will include a silent auction, a buffet supper, and a one-hour performance of an original musical show created especially for the evening featuring professional actors and Imagination Stage students. Funds raised will be used to support Imagination Stage’s theater and arts education programs.
