New short plays by Jason Grote, Sheila Callaghan, Qui Nguyen, and Randy Baker will debut at the Rorschach Theatre on August 16 as part of the company’s Myth-Appropriation play development program. The pieces, developed from sources like Grimms fairytales or urban legends, will be given two performances.

For Myth-Appropriation, which is now in its ninth season, a group of writers, directors, designers and actors join forces to bring fully realized new plays to life for one night only. In addition to the edition of the series on the 16th, the theater will offer one on August 9 with short scripts written by emerging playwrights Brett Abelman, Colin Hovde, John Newman, Shaun Raviv, Stephen Spotswood, and Seamus Sullivan. These artists will be devising their works based on the tales from Arabian Nights, myths about Ulysses, and stories about the Undead.
