Olney Theatre Center Announces 2010 Season

Olney Theatre Center has announced selections for its 2010 season, which will kick off with William Inge’s Bus Stop (February 17-March 14) on the Mainstage, followed by Hugh Leonard’s Da in the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab, March 24-April 25.

The musical Triumph of Love — featuring book by James Magruder, music by Jeffrey Stock, and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead — will play the Mainstage, April 14-May 9. Next will be the Washington-area premiere of Peter Parnell’s Trumpery, June 9-July 4. Another Washington-area premiere, Evan Smith’s The Savannah Disputation, will follow, July 28-August 22.

The Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab will see a production of Donald Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner With Friends, August 25-September 26. George Bernard Shaw’s Misalliance will play the Mainstage, September 29-October 24. The season will conclude with the family-friendly musical Annie, with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin, to be presented on the Mainstage, November 17-January 2.

In addition to its subscription season, Olney will present programming from its National Players company (with touring productions of Much Ado About Nothing, Lord of the Flies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Scarlet Letter, and Forever Plaid), as well as a Family Entertainment Series (consisting of Pigeon Party and Corbian), and a Jazz series.
