Stage and screen stars Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons will perform in Music Inspired by Shakespeare, with Lorin Maazel and the Castleton Festival Orchestra, as a fundraiser for the Castleton Festival, to be held at the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland on June 30, at 8pm.

The program will feature three excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, and Mendelssohn’s Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, highlighted by spoken performances of Shakespeare verses from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mirren and Irons. As previously reported, the actors will also perform the piece with the orchestra as part of the Blackcreek Summer Music Festival, in Toronto.

A post-performance Soirée with Maestro Maazel, Dame Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons will take place in Strathmore’s Comcast Lounge where a very limited number of guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the performers.
