Emily Skinner, Julia Murney to Star in Luck Be a Lady Concert at Strathmore

Strathmore‘s 2010 summer concert season has been announced and will include Luck Be A Lady to be held on June 24. Jim Caruso will host the performance which will feature Emily Skinner and Julia Murney offering Broadway standards, including “Come Up and See Me Sometime,” “Ring them Bells,” “Defying Gravity” and more.

The series at Strathmore will also feature Tribute to the British Invasion (August 11-12), which will honor singers and bands from 1964-1966 with music made famous by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Petula Clark, The Who, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, The Kinds, and The Animals, among others.

There will also be free events every Wednesday night at the Gudelsky Gazebo, from June 23 – August 4. Among the performers scheduled are Travis Sullivan’s Björkestra, Pistolera, Be’la Dona, Milkshake, Ben Williams & Sound Effect, The Crawdaddies and Elikeh.

The summer season ends with the return of the 2009 summer hit UkeFest, to run August 25-26, and featuring groups such as The Sweater Set, Victoria Vox, The Hula Honeys, and The Riders, along with workshops on ukulele playing.

For younger audiences, Strathmore will offer its series of Backyard Theater for Children, which will feature mime Mark Jaster in The Maestro, PBS Kids favorite SteveSongs, and Blue Sky Puppet Theatre in The Barker of Seville, among others.
