Zehra Fazal to Perform Headscarf and the Angry Bitch at Theater J

Zehra Fazal will perform her solo show Headscarf and the Angry Bitch in the Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater at Theater J on May 31 at 7:30pm. The performance is part of the theater’s Voices from a Changing Middle East Festival: Voice of the Woman.

The piece is a comic exploration of life as a Pakistani Muslim growing up as an American girl in the suburbs, focusing on Zed Headscarf, an aspiring folk-rock musician, who is hired by her local mosque to teach the greater community about Islam through music.

Fazal has appeared at such theaters as Studio Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Synetic Theater, Adventure Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, and Landless Theatre. In addition, she has performed her adapted and original work at Fringe Festivals in Washington, DC, Indianapolis and San Francisco.
