Plays by Jason Grote, Stephen D. Hunter, Anne Washburn, et al. Set for Woolly Mammoth’s 2011-2012 Season

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced its 2011-2012 season.

The year will begin with Samuel D. Hunter’s look at the unexpected ways in which a father and his estranged son reconnect in Middle America, A Bright New Boise (October 10 – November 6), to be directed by John Vreeke. Also on the theater’s agenda is an engagement by Chicago’s The Second City, Spoiler Alert: Everybody Dies, to run December 6 – January 8.

The company also plans to offer two world premieres in the coming year, Jason Grote’s portrait of four grad school friends attempting to cope with the recession, Civilization (all you can eat) (February 13 – March 11), to be directed by Howard Shalwitz; and Anne Washburn’s look at a post-apocalyptic America sustained by memories of an animated TV series, Mr. Burns, a post-electric play (May 28 – July 1), which will be directed by Steven Cosson and feature music by J. Michael Friedman. In addition, Woolly Mammoth’s season will include Joey Arias and Basil Twist’s loopy look at a large drag queen’s descent into a tiny Garden of Eden, Arias With a Twist (April 4-29).
