House‘s Peter Jacobson Joins DC Insiders for The Play’s the Thing! Benefit

House‘s Peter Jacobson will be joined by members of Congress, Senators and other Washington Insiders for the Shakespeare Theater’s Will on the Hill presentation of Peter Byrne’s The Play’s The Thing! David Morse will direct this event, which raises money for the theater’s education and community outreach programs.

Byrne’s play imagines the president’s Cabinet and staff using Shakespeare’s plays to help inspire him as he prepares for his State of the Union address. Among the elected officials who are scheduled to participate are Representative Brian Baird (D-WA), Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV), Representative Bruce Braley (D-IA), Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN), Representative Donna Edwards (D-MD), Representative Jane Harman (D-CA), Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL), Senator Richard G. Lugar (R-IN), Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Representative Mike McIntyre (D-NC), Representative Chellie Pingree (D-ME), Representative Jared Polis (D-CO), Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL), and Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS). The performance will also feature FedEx’s Gina Adams, Matt Frei of BBC America, Dr. Natwar Gandhi, Major Garrett from Fox News Channel, The Hill‘s Hugo Gurdon, Dr. Sidney Harman, USA Today‘s Steve Roberts and Nina Totenberg from NPR.

The event will also feature a pre-performance cocktail reception and post-show buffet dinner with the cast.
