Elizabeth Ashley to Replace Dixie Carter in Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession

Tony Award winner Elizabeth Ashley will star in Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession, June 8-July 11. She will play Mrs. Warren, replacing the previously announced Dixie Carter, who is recovering from surgery.

Keith Baxter will direct a cast that also includes Amanda Quaid as Vivie Warren, Ted Van Griethuysen as Mr. Praed, Andrew Boyer as Sir George Crofts, Tony Roach as Frank Gardner, David Sabin as Rev. S Gardner, and Caitlin Diana Doyle as Ghost of Kitty Vavasour.

Ashley won the Tony Award for Take Her, She’s Mine, and was Tony-nominated for her performances in Barefoot in the Park and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She most recently appeared on Broadway in August: Osage County, and her other Main Stem credits include Enchanted April, Agnes of God Suddenly Last Summer, and Dividing The Estate.
