Ford’s Theatre Announces Updated Casting for The Civil War

Ford’s Theatre has announced updated casting for it’s production of the musical The Civil War, written by Frank Wildhorn, Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy, with music by Wildhorn. Jeff Calhoun will direct the production, which runs March 27-May 24.

The piece is a musical landscape of the people, voices and sentiments of the American Civil War, inspired by the words of Walt Whitman, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Abraham Lincoln as well as the lives (as documented through letters, photographs, and journals) of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.

Jarrod Emick, who was previously announced to appear in the show, will no longer perform in the musical. The cast will include Sarah Darling, Elliot Dash, Eleasha Gamble, Darryl Reuben Hall, Sean Jenness, Matthew John Kacergis, Kellee Knighten, Michael Lanning, Kingsley Leggs, Michael “Tuba” McKinsey, Aaron Reeder, Bart Shatto, Timothy Shew, Chris Sizemore, Stephen Gregory Smith and Bligh Voth. Hal Holbrook has contributed the pre-recorded voice of Abraham Lincoln.

The design team will include Tobin Ost (set), Wade Laboissonniere (costumes), Jay Crowder (music direction), Dave Clemmons (vocal arrangement/direction), Michael Gilliam (lighting), Aaron Rhyne (video), and David Budries (sound).
