Tracy Letts, Amy Morton, Elaine Stritch, and Kathleen Turner are scheduled to offer tributes to Edward Albee when he receives Arena Stage’s the American Artist Award on Monday, March 14, at the Mead Center for American Theater. The event, entitled An Evening with Edward Albee, will raise money for the theater’s education programs.

Albee won Pulitzers for his plays A Delicate Balance, Seascape, and Three Tall Women. He won Tony Awards for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?. As previously announced, Arena Stage will soon embark on a two-month Edward Albee Festival, which will feature both full productions and readings of the playwright’s work.

The American Artist Award honors an artist who has made a significant contribution to American theater and who represents all that is passionate, exuberant, deep and dangerous in the American spirit.
