New York Pops musical director Steven Reineke will become the new Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra in September 2011.

In his new role, he will oversee the NSO’s pops programming, conduct a minimum of three of the NSO’s six pops weeks per season, and appear in selected additional events, including the NSO’s September 4 performance at the U.S. Capitol. Reineke made his National Symphony Orchestra debut last April.

In addition to conducting the New York Pops’ annual Carnegie Hall concert series as well as its Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks on NBC, Reineke also holds Principal Pops Conductor positions with the Modesto Symphony and the Long Beach Symphony, and is also a noted composer and arranger.

His upcoming appearances include leading four performances with Pink Martini at the NSO (April 13-16), as well as engagements with the New York Pops, Boston Pops, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center.
