The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) has announced casting for The Trumpet of the Swan: A Novel Symphony, to be offered in the Concert Hall at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, March 27 at 2pm and 5pm. Jason Robert Brown, who has composed the piece, will conduct the performances.

The show, which has been adapted by Marsha Norman from the children’s novel by E.B. White, enters on the friendship between Louis, a young Trumpeter swan who is born without a voice, and his human friend Sam, who teaches the bird how to play an actual trumpet.

The company will feature John Lithgow (Sam), Naomi Jacobson (Mother Swan), Jason Lott (Louis’ Thoughts), Jenna Sokolowski (Serena), Craig Wallace (Father Swan), and Michael Willis (Man). The role of Louis will be performed by trumpeter Christopher Venditti.
