Olney Theatre Announces King of the Jews Cast and Creative Team

The Olney Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for their world premiere production of Leslie Epstein’s King of the Jews, set to play in the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab with Cheryl Faraone at the helm, March 11-April 12.

In an adaptation of what has become a classic novel on the Holocaust, Epstein explores the moral dilemma of the Judenrat, the group of Jewish officials who were force to choose who was to live and who was to die in each ghetto of Europe.

The cast will feature David Little as I.C. Trumpelman, Delaney Williams as Fried Rievesaltes, Valerie Leonard as Mrs. Rievesaltes, Harry Winter as Hermand Gutfriend, Cherie Weinert as Dorka Kleinweiss, Timmy Ray James as M.M. Schpitalnik, Peter B. Schmitz as Ferdinand Philosoff, David Elias as Schotter, Carter Jahncke as Rabbi Martini, Norman Aronovic as Rabbi Verble, Justin Pereira as Nisel Lipiczany, and James Konicek as F.X. Wohltat.

The creative team will include Colin K. Bills (lighting design), Howard Kurtz (costume
design), and Jon Savage (scenic design).
